The superintendent of the Cato-Meridian Central School District is leaving after seven years to lead another district.
Dr. Terry Ward聽will leave the northern Cayuga County district effective Jan. 4. The district board of education accepted his resignation at its Nov. 18 meeting.聽
Ward, who started as Cato-Meridian's superintendent in January 2018, will take the same position at the North Syracuse Central School District on Jan. 6, according to a .
Ward told 人兽性交 that Dr. Brian Hartwell, the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES district superintendent, has been named as a search consultant to help the Cato-Meridian district find a new leader.
In Ward's Nov. 6 resignation letter, he said he was grateful for everything he achieved together with the board of education, staff, administrators and the community. He noted accomplishments like securing about $40 million in approved capital project funding, upgrading multiple building systems, expanding extracurricular activities and adding programs such as a work-based learning option, additional college courses and a full-day prekindergarten.
"None of these milestones would have been possible without the passion and dedication we share for providing the best education for our children," Ward said.
"As I prepare to step down, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the past seven years. It has been a privilege to serve as your leader, and I will always hold the Cato-Meridian community close to my heart. I am confident this district will continue to achieve great things."
Also at its Nov. 18 meeting, the Cato-Meridian board of education approved a resolution to appoint Michael Hoose as the district's interim superintendent effective Jan. 6.
In a letter to the community on the , Hoose said his experience includes serving as superintendent of the Cortland Enlarged City School District for eight years before retiring in 2020.
