A member of the聽Auburn Enlarged City School District Board of Education has resigned, and the board is now deciding how to fill the seat.
Freddie Wilson III, who was elected to a three-year term on the board in 2023, at its meeting Tuesday.聽The board's president, Dr. Eli Hernandez, told 人兽性交 he resigned due to health reasons.
Two of the options for filling the seat are appointing someone or waiting until the annual board of education election on 聽and letting voters select someone.
Since Wilson had a year left on his term, Hernandez said the board originally voted to appoint someone to serve that year, and discussed doing so at its April 23 meeting.
But after consulting with the district's law firm, Ferrara Fiorenza, the board is less certain of that option.
That's because, according to state law, if someone was appointed to the seat they would have to leave it by next month's election instead of after next year's, when Wilson's term would have ended.
So now the board is deciding whether to appoint someone to such a short term, Hernandez said, or wait and fill the seat through the election.
Wilson's seat would be up for grabs in addition to three three-year positions.
"I do not know, based on this information, what we will do as a board as far as considering not filling it or filling it," Hernandez said.
"Because we know that whoever does it is going to be doing it for three meetings."
