Boys basketball: Nevin Brown, Union SpringsÂ
The sophomore dropped in 56 points over two games last week as he led the No. 24-state-ranked Wolves to a pair of victories. Brown kicked off the week on Jan. 22 by scoring a game-high 29 points in Union Springs’ 69-66 overtime win against No. 13-ranked Trumansburg. He scored 6 of his points in the extra period to propel his team to the 3-point win. To cap off the week, Brown scored a game-high 27 points in the Wolves’ 73-43 rout of Groton. Union Springs has won four of its last five matchups, with Brown scoring over 20 points in each victory.

Girls basketball: Charli Bennett, Southern Cayuga
Bennett has continued to affect all facets of the game during her first season back from a torn ACL. In Southern Cayuga’s 69-39 victory over Lansing on Jan. 21, the senior amassed 26 points, 28 rebounds and seven assists. She filled up the box score once again on Friday, putting up 28 points, 20 rebounds and five assists in her team’s 74-29 blowout win over Newfield. With Southern Cayuga sitting at 10-4, Bennett is averaging over 26 points, 17 rebounds and five steals a game. She will look to help extend Southern Cayuga’s winning streak to five on Friday when it hosts Groton.

Girls basketball: Ava Jorgensen, Port Byron
It was a memorable week for Jorgensen as the Panthers walked away with back-to-back victories. The sophomore scored a career-high 30 points on Friday in Port Byron’s 67-52 win against Fabius-Pompey. Jorgensen poured in 24 of her points from beyond the arc. Prior to the career game, she racked up 6 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block on Jan. 21 against Hannibal in the Panthers’ 50-42 win. Port Byron and Jorgensen are set to return to the court Thursday when they travel to Altmar-Parish-Williamstown.
Girls hockey: Genevieve Smart, Skaneateles
Smart more than doubled her goal total for the season last week as the Lakers moved to 10-0. The freshman recorded the first hat trick of her varsity career on Thursday in a 7-1 win over Ithaca. She followed up that performance with another hat trick against South Glens Falls on Friday as the Lakers won 3-1. Sitting at 10 goals this season, Smart is tied with Cora Major for most goals on the team. While she’s tied in scores, she paces the team in assists with 15. The Lakers and Smart are on the road Thursday when they take on Webster Thomas.

Boys wrestling: Hunter Boynton, Moravia
The senior added five wins to his record last week as the Blue Devils competed in a pair of dual meets and the Interscholastic Athletic Conference championships. Boynton's first win in the 131-pound weight class came on Tuesday by pin at 1:20 against Marathon. He tallied his second victory the next day by technical fall over Odessa-Montour’s Bradley Cantineri. At the IAC championships Saturday, Boynton came out on top in his three matchups to take first in his weight class. Through 27 matchups this season, the senior has worked his way to a 24-3 record.Â
