1. He’s a burner. Hairston ran a 4.28-second 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine – the fastest clocked time of every prospect in attendance. A two-year starter at Kentucky, Hairston led the Southeastern Conference with five interceptions in 2023 and tied the school record with three career pick-sixes.

2. An injury shortened his junior season. Hairston missed five games in 2024 because of a shoulder injury. He ended up making seven starts, finishing with 19 tackles, one interception, five passes defensed and one forced fumble. He skipped his senior season to enter the draft.
3. His high school career ended in dream fashion. Hairston caught the game-winning touchdown in double overtime as West Bloomfield High School won the 2020 Division I Michigan state championship. A team captain as a senior, he earned all-state honors after defending 19 passes, making three interceptions and forcing three fumbles on defense, while scoring eight touchdowns on offense.

4. He was a three-sport athlete in high school. Hairston’s first love was basketball, and he lettered in that sport, along with track and field. He had personal bests of 11.75 seconds in the 100 meters, 23.06 seconds in the 200 and 19 feet, 8 inches in the long jump.
5. Athletics run in his family. Hairston’s cousin Lindsay Hairston played college basketball at Michigan State before being selected by the Detroit Pistons in the 1975 NBA draft. Another cousin, Taiwan Jones (no relation to the former Bills player), played linebacker at Michigan State before spending two seasons with the New York Jets (2015-16).
