AUBURN - Dolores Florence "Dee" Caramella (n茅e Cichello), age 96, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, in Auburn, New York. Born on September 10, 1928, in Syracuse, New York, Dolores lived a long and meaningful life marked by kindness, sincerity, and a deep love for her family and community.
Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Caramella. Together they built a life rooted in love and devotion. She was a cherished mother to her three children: Ron and his wife Karla; Janice and her husband Fran; and Joe and his wife Colleen. Her family was the center of her world, and she especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren. Dolores also shared a close bond with her brothers Sam, Anthony, and Joe.
A woman of quiet strength and enduring warmth, Dolores touched countless lives through both her personal relationships and professional work. She served as a lunchroom attendant at Herman Avenue School and West Genesee School, where she became a beloved figure among students. Known for her ever-present smile and kind words, she created an atmosphere of joy wherever she went. Students delighted in sharing stories with her during lunch breaks-laughing together in moments that became lasting memories.
Dolores found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her yard, attending church services regularly, and spending cherished time with her dear friend Elsa. Summers were often spent sitting on her front porch, enjoying the sunshine and greeting neighbors with warmth. Her presence brought comfort to those around her
- she never complained and always made others feel seen and valued.
Her legacy is one of compassion, grace, and unwavering positivity. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing
Dolores left the encounter feeling uplifted by her gentle spirit.
A calling hour for family and friends will be this Saturday, April 19th from 9:00 am until 10:00 am with a service to honor her life immediately following at 10:00 am all inside of Pettigrass Funeral Home, located at 196 Genesee Street in Auburn, New York.
