Sheila Anne Wawro, a lifelong resident of Auburn, NY, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on March 6, 1939, Sheila lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and love.
She was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1957, and went on to work for Sylvania and General Electric in Syracuse and Auburn before retiring from TRW in Auburn in 2000. Known for her spirited nature, quick wit, and unwavering devotion, Sheila was a woman who met life with humor, strength, and grace.
A faithful parishioner of both St. Hyacinth's and St. Mary's Churches, Sheila's Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. A breast cancer survivor of over 25 years, she faced challenges with resilience and inspired others through her courage and conviction. Her faith never wavered, and neither did her love for her family.
Sheila was the devoted mother of Patty (Mark) Smith, Debbie Kimball, David Wawro, and Sharon (Robert) Fasce; grandmother of Missy (Steve) Sevier, Candy Smith, Robbie Gross Jr., Amanda (Matt) Hunt, Jessica (Jay) Kirby, Bethany, Cole, and Andrew Wawro, Christopher (Caroline), Matthew, and Nicholas Fasce; and great-grandmother of Garrett and Gracie Sevier, Emma Smith-Dennis, Adeline and Elaina Hunt, and Emma and Lily Fasce.
She now joins in eternal rest her beloved husband, Richard Wawro; youngest son, Ritchie Wawro; four infant sons: (Richard, David R, Stanley, and David); daughter-in-law, Janet (Bratek) Wawro; son-in-law, Lenny Kimball; and her parents: Edward and Mary Panek; as well as brothers: William and Michael Panek.
Her legacy of faith, strength, and humor will live on in every life she touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Mary's Church in Auburn on Friday, June 13th at 11 AM. Calling hours for Sheila will be held in the church prior to Mass from 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity of your choice, in honor of her enduring spirit.
