With the senior鈥檚 57 points on Tuesday, he also became the all-time leading scorer in Southern Cayuga boys basketball history.
Ryne Shelton contributed 9 points, while Ben Kermidas had 7. Kyler Colton poured in 6.聽
Southern Cayuga is back on the court Friday when it travels to take on No. 1 Moravia in the quarterfinals.
Boys basketball
No. 2 Nottingham 63, No. 10 Auburn 51: The Maroons could not overcome a slow first quarter on Tuesday as they lost to the Bulldogs on the road in the quarterfinals of the Section III, Class AA tournament. Jaydyn Baker and Zach Johnson scored 17 and 14 points, respectively. Auburn ends the season at 6-16.

Raelee McDowell contributed 5 points, while Mallory Mills and Luciana DeBois each chipped in 4. Port Byron finishes the season with a record of 7-12.
No. 4 Weedsport 66, No. 13 Alexandria 27: Allowing double-digit points in just one quarter Saturday, the Wolverines came away with a home first-round win in the Section III, Class C tournament. Kayla Flask led Weedsport with a game-high 17 points. Mallory Brown dropped in 16, while Keegan McNabb put in 8. Anna Kershner and Gabby Jeffers ended with 7 and 6 points, respectively. The Wolverines are back on their home court Thursday when they host Tully.
No. 8 Frankfort-Schuyler 58, No. 9 Cato-Meridian 48: The Blue Devils were held to 4 second-quarter points on the road Saturday in their first-round loss in the Section III, Class C tournament. Amber Clarke and Camryn Daggett each scored 13 apiece. Caitlin Salmonsen and Mollie Walton dropped in 11 and 9 points, respectively. Cato-Meridian concludes the season at 11-9.
No. 6 Phoenix 46, No. 11 Skaneateles 34: Outscored by 11 points in the fourth quarter Saturday on the road, the Lakers fell in the first round of the Section III, Class B tournament. Allie Michel finished with a team-high 13 points and eight steals. Finnly Pas'cal tallied 12 points, nine rebounds and one steal, while Brooke DeRosalia ended with 5 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Skaneateles ends the season at 7-12.
Men鈥檚 basketball
No. 7 Hudson Valley Community College 92, No. 10 Cayuga Community College 73: The Spartans were unable to overcome a 16-point halftime deficit Tuesday on the road in the first round of the Region III playoffs. Tony Borges led Cayuga with 21 points and six rebounds. Marcus Pasha put up a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Samiar Bennett and Jorge Jimenez dropped in 13 and 9 points, respectively. Desean Strachan scored 8. The Spartans posted a record of 6-18 during their 2024-2025 campaign.聽
Women鈥檚 basketball
No. 9 Cayuga Community College 62, No. 8 Corning Community College 53: Going on a 15-3 run in the fourth quarter Tuesday, the Spartans beat the Red Barons in the first round of the Region III playoffs on the road. 鈥淭his was two teams playing really, really hard,鈥 head coach Jim Alberici said in a news release. 鈥淚 told the team at halftime, this is what playoff basketball is like. You have to earn the next practice and the next game. Neither team wants to hand in their uniform at the end of the game. To close out the game on that run, and to keep fighting like we did, I couldn鈥檛 be prouder of this team.鈥 Haley Mosch led the charge for Cayuga with a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Xavia Evener ended with a double-double of 17 points and 21 rebounds, while Lexi Alberici had 12 points and three assists. The Spartans will now take on No. 1 Onondaga Community College on Friday at Jefferson Community College.
Bowling
Union Springs/Port Byron: The girls and boys placed fourth and fifth, respectively, at the Section IV, Class C tournament in Vestal on Friday and Saturday. Matthew Howell posted a team-high score of 663 as the boys earned a spot at the state qualifiers on Thursday in聽Waverly.聽Matthew Smead ended with a 574, while聽Dylan Howell had a 523.聽Henry Kinnaman concluded with a 521. Jenna Jump led the girls with a 600. Caroline Smead and聽Bethany Jump totaled scores of 569 and 516, respectively. All three girls qualified as individual bowlers for the state qualifiers in Waverly on Friday.
Boys ice hockey
No. 1 Skaneateles 8, No. 5 Clinton 0: Luke Mizro recorded a hat trick Tuesday at home in the Lakers鈥 shutout win in the Section III, Division II semifinals. Luke Bobbett, Cole Campbell, Cole Palmer, Addison Taggart and Braedan Taggart each netted one goal. Tye Kennedy had a team-high three assists, while Kaden Rutledge tallied two. Luke Logan, Asher Kozub, Sutton Paro, Jackson Tank, Bobbett and Palmer posted one assist apiece. Goalie Danny Angelina totaled 24 saves in the victory. Skaneateles is back on the ice Monday when it plays No. 2 Christian Brothers Academy/Jamesville-DeWitt or No. 3 Whitesboro in the Section III, Division II championship.聽
Indoor track and field
Auburn: The Maroons had six athletes qualify for the state championships on Tuesday at SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College. For the boys, Austin Ferrin took first place in the 3,200-meter run (9:47.41) and third in the 1,600-meter run (4:27 57). Owen Gasper came out on top in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:25.73. In the high jump, Amadi Onyeani placed first with a school record of 6 feet, 3 inches. On the girls side, Kyleen Brady earned second in the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter run with times of 4:46.43 and 10:28.59, respectively. Abigail Ringwood finished second in the 1,000-meter run with a 2:57.53. Nora Burroughs qualified for states in the 1,000-meter intersectional medley relay. All six Maroons will compete at the state finals on March 8 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.聽

Moravia: The Blue Devils聽concluded their season on Sunday by taking part in the聽Section IV state qualifiers at Cornell University. Karson Mackey posted a school record of 9.39 in the girls 55-meter hurdles, finishing in sixth place. She earned first-team all-star honors for her effort. Anna Anderson also earned a first-team spot by taking 12th overall in the 1,000-meter run. In the 300-meter run,聽Cecelia Stryker came in 12th with a 46.12.聽Hayley Murphy took 15th in the 1,500-meter run. The squad of聽Davida Jackson, Murphy, Mackey and聽Stryker finished 11th (2:00.53) in the聽4x200-meter relay. In the weight throw,聽Taleigh Sheppard ended in 15th.Wyatt Anthony placed fifth in Division II for the boys in the 1,600-meter run (5:04) and earned first-team all-star honors.
