Currier Plastics officials and employees gather for a ceremony in 2022 to commemorate the company's expansion into the old TRW building on Crane Brook Drive in Aurelius.
A health care private equity firm has bought Currier Plastics and named a new CEO to lead the Auburn manufacturer.
Sheridan Capital Partners announced Monday that it completed its "investment" in Currier Plastics, which was founded in 1982. According to a news release, Sheridan partners with companies and "strives to bring strategic resources to accelerate growth, build enduring value and achieve strong results."
Andrew McLean will succeed John Currier, the company's founder and longtime chief executive officer, as CEO.
In a statement, Currier said Sheridan is a great partner that will "continue our steadfast commitment to excellence for our customers."
"The health care expertise Sheridan brings will be invaluable as we look to execute on organic growth initiatives and strategic (mergers and acquisitions)," Currier continued. "In addition, this partnership and the leadership of our incoming CEO Andrew McLean will enable us to continue to invest in the talent and operational resources to continue providing world-class products and services to our growing customer base across multiple end markets."
Currier Plastics has expanded over the years. It has added to its facility on Columbus Street and acquired the former TRW plant in Aurelius. The company manufactures products that are used in various industries, including food and beverage, hospitality and personal care. However, its growth in the health care industry is what led to the partnership with Sheridan.
The Auburn company is getting an experienced executive in McLean, who is the past president and CEO of SteriPack Group, a medical device and pharmaceutical product design and contract manufacturer. He was also the CEO of Sirtex, another medical product manufacturer.
"Currier's excellent reputation for quality, technical capabilities and customer service has been established over decades," McLean said. "I look forward to continuing and growing this legacy."
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
