Six people in Cayuga County have been charged with welfare fraud and other crimes after an investigation involving multiple agencies.
In a news release Monday, the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said deputies executed warrants for the arrest of the following on Oct. 2:
Robert Whittaker III

All six were arraigned at Auburn City Court and released on their own recognizance.聽
The investigation also involved the Cayuga County Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit and the Cayuga County District Attorney's Office.
"Welfare fraud is a serious crime that impacts everyone in our community," Sheriff Brian Schenck said in the news release.
"We are continuing to investigate these crimes aggressively and will hold those in Cayuga County who take advantage of this system accountable.鈥
