The investigation began with a report Sept. 26, the sheriff's office said, and members of its Criminal Investigations Division worked with the聽Child Advocacy Center of Cayuga County.
Stone, who is in the U.S. on a temporary work visa, was then located in the village of Aurora and taken into custody. He was arraigned at CAP court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. A federal immigration detainer has been lodged with the jail, the sheriff's office said.
The Cayuga County District Attorney's Office said in a later news release that Stone has been indicted by a grand jury on two counts of the rape charge and one count of the welfare charge. He faces up to eight years in prison, four for each rape count. His case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Courtney Venditte.
