The Cato-Meridian Central School District has selected its next superintendent after months of searching.聽
The district鈥檚 board of education 聽in a news release Thursday that Dee Froio will take over the position in July.聽
Froio has more than two decades of high school education experience, most recently serving as assistant superintendent for teaching, learning and accountability, and Title IX coordinator, at the Hannibal Central School District in Oswego County.

In the release, Froio said she hopes to improve Cato-Meridian student achievement through strong聽instructional programing and curriculum, and called the appointment an honor.聽
"I鈥檓 excited to listen, learn, and lead alongside our students, staff, families, and community members as we build on our proud tradition of excellence,鈥 she said.
"The future is bright, and I look forward to shaping it alongside this incredible community."
Froio was for superintendent alongside another candidate in March. The position opened up when Dr. Terry Ward, who was superintendent for seven years, left to become superintendent of the North Syracuse Central School District in January. Michael Hoose has held the position of interim superintendent since Jan. 6, and will take the same position at the Southern Cayuga Central School District effective July 1.
Kathy Bratt, president of the Cato-Meridian school board, said Froio鈥檚 experience made her an ideal candidate.聽
鈥淲e are confident she will build upon our strengths and guide us toward continued excellence,鈥 Bratt said.
