State-ranked teams
- Skaneateles boys hockey (first in Division II at 12-2): The Lakers remain in the top spot in the rankings after picking up wins over Auburn on Jan. 16 and Oswego on Tuesday. Skaneateles has scored 24 goals over its last three matchups, and has not surrendered a goal since Jan. 4.
- Moravia girls basketball (15th in Class C at 6-2): After beating fellow ranked team Union Springs on Jan. 14, the Blue Devils have earned their way into the rankings. Following their loss to Elmira to open the season, the defending Class C state champions have won six of their last seven matchups.Â
- Union Springs girls basketball (20th in Class C at 8-3): The Wolves rebounded from their loss to Moravia by defeating Candor on Jan. 17. Like the Blue Devils girls, Union Springs has picked up six wins over its past seven contests.
- Moravia boys basketball (11th in Class C at 10-1):Â The Blue Devils added another ranked win to their resume Tuesday when they took down No. 13 Trumansburg. Since falling in its season opener to Southern Cayuga, Moravia has rattled off 10 straight wins.
- Union Springs boys basketball (24th in Class C at 10-3): The Wolves also came away with a win over Trumansburg on Wednesday, 69-66 in overtime. Over its last seven matchups, Union Springs has come out on top six times.Â

- Auburn (eighth in Section III, Class AA at 4-9)
- Skaneateles (sixth in Section III, Class B at 9-4): Winning five of their last seven games, the Lakers were recognized with an honorable mention in the state rankings. The road ahead gets tougher for Skaneateles, though, as four of its next six games are against state-ranked opponents. Â
- Jordan-Elbridge (eighth in Section III, Class B at 7-5)
- Moravia (tied for first in Interscholastic Athletic Conference at 10-1)
- Southern Cayuga (sixth in IAC at 11-2)
- Union Springs (seventh in IAC at 10-3)
- Cato-Meridian (ninth in Section III, Class C at 8-5)
- Weedsport (eighth in Section III, Class C at 9-4)
- Port Byron (26th in Section III, Class C at 1-11)
Girls basketball
- Auburn (tied for ninth in Section III, Class AA at 1-8)
- Skaneateles (tied for 10th in Section III, Class B at 5-5)
- Jordan-Elbridge (tied for 14th in Section III, Class B at 3-5)
- Union Springs (fifth in IAC at 8-3)
- Moravia (fourth in IAC at 6-2)
- Southern Cayuga (seventh in IAC at 9-4):Â Thanks in part to winning its last three games by a combined 26.7 points, Southern Cayuga has climbed to five games above .500. In the team's latest win over Lansing, senior Charli Bennett racked up 26 points, 28 rebounds and seven assists.Â
- Weedsport (first in Section III, Class C at 11-2)
- Cato-Meridian (eighth in Section III, Class C at 7-5)
- Port Byron (13th in Section III, Class C at 4-7)
