It will be a relatively quiet primary election in Cayuga County, but there are a handful of races on the ballot in two towns.
In the town of Springport, four Republican candidates are running for town council. The top two vote-getters will appear on the GOP line for the general election in November.
The candidates are Dana Haff, Thomas Owens, Michael Sacco and Michael Selover. Selover is the lone incumbent on the ballot.
There is also a Republican primary for Springport highway superintendent pitting the incumbent, William Walter, against Daniel Schenck.
The town of Summerhill also has two primary elections, including one for the Republican line in the race for town supervisor. Lester Colt and Kyle Ripley are the supervisor candidates seeking the GOP line.聽
Two Republicans are vying for the party's nomination for Summerhill highway superintendent. The candidates are David Dunham and Richard Tillotson.聽
Early voting begins Saturday, June 14, and continues through Sunday, June 22. Because of the small number of primary elections in the county, the early voting site will be the Cayuga County Board of Elections, 157 Genesee St., Auburn.聽
The early voting site will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14, 15, 19, 21 and 22. On Monday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 17, voting hours will be noon to 8 p.m. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, and Friday, June 20.
On Primary Election Day, which is Tuesday, June 24, the polling sites will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Republican voters in the town of Springport will cast their ballots at the Union Springs Fire Department, 257 Cayuga St. Summerhill Town Hall, located at 13606 Route 90, will serve as the polling site for GOP voters there.
